A brief of Bilbao
Bilbao, faithfully known as Botxo, is a town surrounded by mountains through which the Nervión flows. The city dates back to 1300 when Don Diego Lopez de Haro, Lord of Biscay founded the city.
It was then a small village of fishermen and laborers which due to its location, experienced over time rapid growth which forced the city to expand.
Today the town of Bilbao (Bilbo also in Euskera) is a town in the northern capital of the province of Vizcaya, in the autonomous community of the Basque Country. With 355,731 inhabitants according to the census of 2009, it is the most populated city in the Basque Country and the tenth in Spain.
